My son recently attended Tajweed Class on Saturday 4.00am EST. However our Internet connection seems to be poor, and the Ustadh asked that we contact you for assistance.
We live in Oman where there is a restriction on VOIP applications such as SKYPE and MSN. Could this affect the quality or our lesson? Is there anything you can suggest to help? I would add that we live in a hotel, as we just arrived in Oman, so the wifi connection is a central connection.
Assalaam Alaikum Warahmatillah Wabarakatah -
Inshallah, you are well.
Our live sessions are run through the Adobe Flash Player, so it’s not a VOIP connection. However, if your connection is slow this will affect your live session. In general, we recommend that students have a speed of 700KBs for download, and 400KBs for upload. To check your connection speed, go to www.speedtest.net.
Some things you can do include:
1) Closing down all other applications except for your web browser.
2) Closing down any other browser tabs or windows.
3) Make sure nothing is downloading or using the connection in the background, such as Skype, etc.
4) Switching your web browser sometimes does help. Depending on what you’re currently using, you can try one of the below:
Google Chrome: www.google.com/chrome
Mozilla Firefox: www.firefox.com
Apple Safari: www.apple.com/safari
